“Walking Together / Serving as One”
To God be the Glory!
My team and I are newly energized from our training sessions with Anastasia and Jeanne (from LCC Comfort Dog headquarters) who visited us in March! In addition to participating in one-on-one handler training, they accompanied us on several of our regular visits to Piner’s and Collabria, enabling them to observe and participate in our ministry efforts firsthand.
One of my favorite moments from these visits was receiving a hug from one of my good friends at Collabria. Although she has pet me many times and scratched my ears as I lay my head in her lap, because she is confined to a motorized wheelchair, she has not been able to hug me during my previous visits. With the help of Anastasia, my team was able to position me partially on a chair next to her so we were both at eye level and she was able to embrace me with her arms for the very first time. This was a truly special ministry moment for the two of us and my team as well. God, in His providence, delayed the bus which picks her up so that we could share this beautiful time together.
Several of our recent events have opened doors to new relationships and opportunities. After a visit in February to the LWML group at Vineyard of Faith Lutheran Church in Windsor, CA, we were invited back in March to offer comfort to the congregation during a time of need. The CNH District, whose conference we attended in early March, also invited our team to attend their mental health conference at the end of the month.
Wishing everyone a safe and blessed Easter!
