“Walking Together / Serving as One”
To God be the Glory!
In May, my team and I partnered with Chaplain Lee Shaw to recognize the service of our local law enforcement personnel during National Police Week. National Police Week is “a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community.” During this week, we visited each shift at the Napa Police Department, Dispatch, the Napa County Sheriff’s office and CHP offices, thanking them for their devotion and service to our community.
Our team recently participated in west coast regional training with LCC via video feed. This quarterly training is an opportunity to get support and training from the LCC team in Illinois, as well as to fellowship with other teams (Titus, Lois and Reuben) in our region.
One of my handlers and I shared a very special moment on a recent visit to one of the senior living facilities we visit. One of the patients, who has limited verbal and motor skills, was very excited to see me but unable to reach out and pet me on her own. My handler gently took her hand and helped her to pet me. Almost immediately her face changed from frustration to pure joy. I could feel her relaxing as she continued to pet me. It is truly a blessing to spend time with those we visit!
June is always bittersweet as I say goodbye to my St. John’s school kids for the summer. This year I’ll also be saying goodbye to friends I’ve made at Camille Creek and Vintage High School. I wish all of them a safe and happy summer!
