As we usher in the fall season, I am looking forward to several upcoming events this month. I will be cheering on my St. John’s students at the “Get on Track” event on October 7. I am also very excited for “Trunk or Treat” this year. My team and I will be returning to Vintage High School, working with the Peer Support Department.
Last month I told you about my fellow Comfort Dog team in Joplin who was injured while traveling in their church van. We are pleased to hear that Comfort Dogs Jackson and Louis are recovering nicely and are slowly returning to work. Ken Eby, the driver is doing well. For a wonderful TV news update, go to http://www.koamtv.com/clip/12679003 . Please also pray for Team Esther Comfort Dog. Esther was attacked by another dog while out on a walk.
Aaron’s visits to the Veterans Home…Team Aaron is humbled and honored at the opportunity to share the mercy, compassion, and presence of Jesus Christ with the residents of the Veterans Home of California in Yountville. Founded in 1884, it is the largest facility of its kind in the United States. With over 1,000 residents and an equal number of staff, there are plenty of people for us to meet.
Aaron is already bringing smiles to those we encounter. His tail wags happily with every meet and greet. He eagerly anticipates the next pat on the head and friendly hello. We are privileged to be with this grateful population that in turn has so much to offer! Our goal is to visit at least weekly, so that the residents get accustomed to seeing Aaron and to allow our team to build relationships with those we meet. With over 900 acres to explore, we look forward to discovering the hidden treasures of this very special community.
